Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend?

Maybe you just purchased a new home or rented a new apartment, and you're looking for an excuse to take a break from unpacking...even if you're already established, if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, look no further. Here's a smattering of some of the happenings around our local area in the next three days. Hopefully one or more of them will strike your fancy!

THURSDAY, JUNE 23

 FRIDAY, JUNE 24
  • Chief Ike's Mambo Room! The Washington Post says, "Free pool, DJs spinning hard rock and metal, cheap beer-and-shot combos: If there's a more awesomely divey gay party in the city, we've yet to find it!"
  • Carter Barron Amphitheatre Washington Post Weekend Concert Series features Archives, Passion Reggae Band and Carl Malcolm & Positive Vibrations Band. More information.
  • Prince George's Stadium Scout Night Camp Out. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts (Girl Scout Night was June 3) of all levels are invited to come out and watch the game and pitch a tent after for a sleep-out on the field!
  • Universalist National Memorial Church features Einstein's Dreams, presented by Spooky Action Theater, a story about a 20-something Albert Einstein as he comes up with his famous theories.
SATURDAY, JUNE 25
  • Dinosaur Jr. at the 930 Club, performing their album "Bug" in its entirety. Check out their website for more information.
  • National Capital Barbecue Battle XIX - if you have a favorite barbecue bib, this is the perfect occasion to hang it on! Buy your tickets here
  • Strap on your dancing shoes and head over to Glen Echo Park to get swing dancing lessons with the Eric Felten Jazz Orchestra!
  • The Art Museum of the Americas is hosting Corridor, an exhibit of twelve DC and Baltimore artists; through its "artist choose artist", they challenge the curator-artist relationship.
SUNDAY, JUNE 26
  • El Zol Festival at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds features Prince Royce, a Dominican American musician with a wide-ranging sound that spans multiple eras and genres.
  • The Puppet Company Playhouse hosts Bob Brown Puppets performing Animal Crackers! Part of the Tiny Tots at 10 series.
  • The John F. Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts welcomes the All-National Honor Ensembles! Featuring All-National Honor Band, All-National Honor Choir, All-National Honor Orchestra and All-National Jazz Band.
  • John Prendergast and Michael Mattocks read at Politics & Prose Bookstore. Prendergast is a human rights activist and co-founder of the Enough Project. He and Mattocks co-authored the book "Unlikely Brothers: Our Story of Adventure, Loss, and Redemption", the story of their Little Brother/Big Brother relationship.

I'll be celebrating my son's 13th birthday this weekend! I hope all everyone out there enjoys a fantastic weekend, and don't forget: give us a shout if you're looking to buy, rent or sell a home!
